Can Jesus Transform Our Sexuality?

Pastor Mark Culligan, BA, MM is Founder, CEO, and Trustee of New Hearts Outreach whose goal is to "GLORIFY GOD BY CONNECTING THE SEXUALLY & RELATIONALLY CHALLENGED TO JESUS CHRIST."

Having been involved in homosexuality for twenty years has prepared Mark Culligan to offer tremendous insights into the causes and recovery of homosexuality.  He first became aware of homosexual feelings as a teenager in high school.  After twenty years of living as "Mr. Straight" by day and "Mr. Gay" by night, he sought answers for a better way to go. His first solution was to get married. After two failed attempts, he sought professional counsel and began his journey out. 

Though the journey out is a major challenge for anyone who chooses to leave homosexuality, the rewards, healthy male relationships, and, most importantly, the growing and deepening relationship with Jesus Christ have made the difficult journey extremely satisfying.  Peace has come that passes understanding. His life is an open book.  There are no more secrets.

At an early age, Mark's parents recognized a musical gift of singing which allowed him to pursue and successfully complete his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Music at the University of South Florida.  He has been a featured soloist with choirs and orchestras; a Cantor and Church Music Director, an opera singer, and a state-certified public school music specialist.

Mark patterns his ministry after Ezekiel 36:26: "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you."  Mark and the New Hearts Leadership Team have appeared as guest speakers in a variety of settings, including college and university classrooms, state Christian student conferences, and on many local and national radio and television programs.  He has also served as host of "Light Up Tampa Bay", an hour-long radio show broadcast on Christian radio station WTBN.  New Hearts Outreach received a "2003 High Impact Award" presented by Somebody Cares Tampa Bay. Recently, Mark was invited by PFOX to join a national speaking team.

Beverly "Bev" J. Kilmer is a Republican politician who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2004, representing the 7th District. She unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2004 against Congressman Allen Boyd, and again for the Florida House in 2016.

 

• Kilmer was born in Detroit, Michigan, and dropped out of high school to have a family. She later earned her GED and attended the Matrix Institute of Business, and moved to Florida in 1970. She became a hairdresser and opened up a chain of hair salons in Tallahassee, ultimately deciding to run for office after testifying against a proposed regulation that she thought would hurt hair stylists.

In 1998, Kilmer announced that she would run against incumbent Democratic State Representative Jamey Westbrook in the 7th District, which stretched from Miramar Beach to Marianna and Tallahassee. Shortly after Westbrook filed for re-election, he was indicted for defrauding a federal peanut quota program after he falsified farming quotas and federal disaster claims for farmers.^] Shortly afterwards, Westbrook's wife, Gayle Westbrook, also filed to run in the Democratic primary, and they announced that they would decide which of them would actually run for the seat.Ultimately, Gayle dropped out of the race, leaving Jamey Westbrook as the Democratic nominee. A contentious general election ensued in the ancestrally Democratic district, with Westbrook emphasizing his humble roots, and his innocence of the charges brought against him, by airing television advertisements showing him riding his tractor through his peanut fields—which inadvertently reminded voters of his looming indictment.In the end, Kilmer narrowly defeated Westbrook, 51–49%, winning by just 800 votes, which came from her sizable margins in Bay County, which she won 66–34%, and in Walton County, where she won 76–24%.  Kilmer joined a Republican-dominated legislature and Republican Governor Jeb Bush, which was the first time that the state had been governed exclusively by Republicans since Reconstruction.^[3]

When Kilmer ran for re-election in 2000, she was challenged by Westbrook, who was acquitted of the charges against him just weeks after he lost re-election in 1998. The state party targeted Kilmer for defeat, hoping that Westbrook's acquittal and the district's history of voting for Democrats would allow them to pick it up. However, Kilmer ended up expanding her margin of victory over Westbrook, defeating him 53–47% as the Florida Panhandle overwhelmingly backed George W. Bush over Al Gore in the presidential election.

Kilmer sought a third and final term in the House in 2002, when she was opposed by businessman Cliff Thomas, the Democratic nominee.Despite Kilmer's close previous races, Thomas received little outside support and ultimately lost in a landslide, receiving only 41% of the vote to Kilmer's 59%.

How can we stop the evil that has taken over our planet? Purpose 

The purpose of the Watchmen Declaration is to educate the body of Christ about the latest assaults on our religious freedoms around the world and their prophetic implications. We also want to proclaim how our shared core beliefs can help us to both stand and unite against a common enemy that seeks to destroy our freedoms.

History of the Declaration 

The Watchmen Declaration was developed in the Tampa Bay area by concerned pastors and Christians about the alarming expansion of new forms of religious persecution. We were also inspired by the Ezekiel Declaration made by the pastors of Australia. After many hundreds of hours of conversations, we are proud to share that we have much in common. While we appreciate the freedom we have in Christ to follow our callings and focus on our respective ministries, we were pleased to unite and proclaim a collective statement regarding the essential articles of our faith. Because the “Watchmen” represents a vital function within the body of Christ, everyone is welcome to use the declaration as it is written. Beverly "Bev" J. Kilmer is a Republican politician who served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1998 to 2004, representing the 7th District. She unsuccessfully ran for Congress in 2004 against Congressman Allen Boyd, and again for the Florida House in 2016.

 

• Kilmer was born in Detroit, Michigan, and dropped out of high school to have a family. She later earned her GED and attended the Matrix Institute of Business, and moved to Florida in 1970. She became a hairdresser and opened up a chain of hair salons in Tallahassee, ultimately deciding to run for office after testifying against a proposed regulation that she thought would hurt hair stylists.

In 1998, Kilmer announced that she would run against incumbent Democratic State Representative Jamey Westbrook in the 7th District, which stretched from Miramar Beach to Marianna and Tallahassee. Shortly after Westbrook filed for re-election, he was indicted for defrauding a federal peanut quota program after he falsified farming quotas and federal disaster claims for farmers.^] Shortly afterwards, Westbrook's wife, Gayle Westbrook, also filed to run in the Democratic primary, and they announced that they would decide which of them would actually run for the seat.Ultimately, Gayle dropped out of the race, leaving Jamey Westbrook as the Democratic nominee. A contentious general election ensued in the ancestrally Democratic district, with Westbrook emphasizing his humble roots, and his innocence of the charges brought against him, by airing television advertisements showing him riding his tractor through his peanut fields—which inadvertently reminded voters of his looming indictment.In the end, Kilmer narrowly defeated Westbrook, 51–49%, winning by just 800 votes, which came from her sizable margins in Bay County, which she won 66–34%, and in Walton County, where she won 76–24%.  Kilmer joined a Republican-dominated legislature and Republican Governor Jeb Bush, which was the first time that the state had been governed exclusively by Republicans since Reconstruction.^[3]

When Kilmer ran for re-election in 2000, she was challenged by Westbrook, who was acquitted of the charges against him just weeks after he lost re-election in 1998. The state party targeted Kilmer for defeat, hoping that Westbrook's acquittal and the district's history of voting for Democrats would allow them to pick it up. However, Kilmer ended up expanding her margin of victory over Westbrook, defeating him 53–47% as the Florida Panhandle overwhelmingly backed George W. Bush over Al Gore in the presidential election.

Kilmer sought a third and final term in the House in 2002, when she was opposed by businessman Cliff Thomas, the Democratic nominee.Despite Kilmer's close previous races, Thomas received little outside support and ultimately lost in a landslide, receiving only 41% of the vote to Kilmer's 59%
